halo-halo

halo-Halo is a traditional filipino cooler sometimes served as a dessert or an afternoon fare. most popular during summer time, its main ingredients are usually made up of a layered combination of beans (mung beans, kidney beans, white beans are the most common), sweetened bananas, jackfruit, jello, kaong, nata de coco with shaved ice, milk, and sugar topped with leche flan, pinipig and ice cream. it has a more popular cousin, the thai version, whose name escapes me at the moment. truth be told, i've never been fond of this dessert/drink. i find the numerous ingredients to be too much for my taste and my tummy. i prefer its more distant cousin, the banana-jackfruit halo-halo. however, if you're planning a trip to the philippines, the halo-halo is a must try.
